From 2nd March 2020, UK passport holders travelling to Turkey as tourists, will not need to purchase a tourist Visa in order to enter the country (applicable for visits of up to 90 days in any 180 day period).
Your passport should be valid for a minimum period of 6 months from the date of entry into Turkey and will be stamped with your date of entry on arrival. You will need to have a blank page available in your passport for this. Your passport will also be stamped with the date of exit when you leave the country.
If you are travelling to Turkey prior to 2nd March 2020, a tourist Visa will still be required. You can purchase one at a cost of $35 via the official website: https://www.evisa.gov.tr/en/ (beware of non-official websites that will charge considerably more than this).
The latest information regarding entry requirements for UK nationals can be seen here: https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/turkey/entry-requirements#visas
Residents from other countries will need to check their individual Visa and passport requirements.
Health care in Turkey is not covered under the E111 as in the European Union and private health cover is necessary. However the standard of private care in the area is excellent and generally significantly cheaper than European private hospitals.
It is therefore very important that you have adequate insurance cover in place before travelling.
